There are different symptoms that a woman will experience when she has this cancer like Yonisoola, severe pain in the vagina, a bad odour being produced in the vagina known as yonidourgandhya and bleeding. This type of cancer is called Yogi Granthi in Ayurveda. The diseases that are related to the vagina will be due to Vaata dosha and cancer is caused when the Vaata dosha is out of control. The tumour is related to Kapha dosha, which is in the erosive stage. Pitta dosha will also be high in people with this cancer.

Various symptoms of cervical cancer

When women are prone to this type of cancer, they do not experience any pain or signs of it. However, it is good to undergo regular screening of the cervical area to detect cancer initially and take the right treatment before the condition goes worse. Following are the symptoms that are witnessed in women with this type of cancer:

  • Excessive bleeding from the vagina. The bleeding will occur after intercourse or during the menstrual cycle or in the menopause stage
  • Extreme pain after having sex
  • Fluid secretion from the vagina will have a bad smell
  • Experience pain while urinating and can witness blood in the urine
  • Pain and swelling in the feet
  • Women start to feel weakness and tiredness in the body
  • Suppress in appetite and start to lose weight drastically
  • Swelling in the abdomen area
  • Nausea and vomiting

Causes of cervical cancer

The following could be causes that make women get prone to cancer in the cervical cells

Human Papillomavirus (HPV)

When a woman is attacked by this virus, then the chances of cervical cancer would be high. The virus is spread to women when she has unprotected sex. It spreads briskly and in hundred forms and some of its forms would take a toll on the reproductive organ of women. There are two different types of such viruses which could lead to this cancer such as Human Papillomavirus 16 and 18.

Sex at the young age

If a woman is having sexual activity before 16, then there is a higher risk of getting prone to this cancer. Having sex at a young age will quickly transmit the sexually transmitted virus and attack the reproductive organ of the body.

Having sex with more than one person

If a woman has sex with multiple people, then the chances of being attacked by the HPV virus are high and this eventually increases the risk of this cancer.

Conceiving at a young age

If a woman gets pregnant before 16 years or before this age many times, the chances of getting attacked by this virus are higher.

Poor immune system

Women who have weaker immune-system would be unable to stay protected from the infections that are caused due to HPV and STI and thus are prone to cervical cancer.

Sexually transmitted infections

There are many infections which are transmitted through sex such as syphilis, gonorrhoea and chlamydia which increase the risk of cervical cancer.


If the woman is a chain smoker or smokes often would have the risk of this cancer.

Ayurvedic treatments for cervical cancer

Saraka Indica or Ashoka bark
